Prior to establishing The Dorman Group LLC, Lynda served in several executive positions within the business and non-profit sectors. She most recently served as the first long-term Executive Director of the Black Entertainment Television Foundation, Inc. (BETF), a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization founded in 2004 by BET Networks. Lynda was responsible for conceiving the organization’s strategic program platforms, developing the national initiatives, conducting multi-million dollar revenue solicitations and managing operations.
Lynda also served as Executive Director and Corporate Secretary of Lawyers for Children America (LFCA), a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization which trains volunteer attorneys and provides direct legal services to children entering the child welfare system because of abuse, neglect and abandonment. She directed LFCA programs in Connecticut, Florida and Washington, D.C., leading a legal team that trained and provided on-going support to over 1,000 volunteer lawyers serving as Guardians ad litem.
Lynda served as President of LyCom Enterprises, Inc., a Maryland-based marketing management firm specializing in corporate citizenship, advised philanthropy, community relations, financial development, community program development and non-profit operations. Under Lynda’s leadership, LyCom Enterprises, Inc. completed major engagements for companies and organizations of various sizes, including Millennium Technologies LLC, Sands Casino, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, D.C. State Education Agency-Adult Education, the Embassy of Swaziland and the National Dental Association.
Lynda also served as the first Chief Public Support Officer of the National Capital Chapter of the American Red Cross (ARC). As a member of the senior management team, she was responsible for managing local, national and international disaster fund development, marketing, and communications efforts assigned to the Chapter. Lynda directed cause-marketing programs, media relations, crisis communications and special events. She also served as liaison to the national American Red Cross on local philanthropic, media and diversity initiatives, including the White House Conference on Philanthropy in partnership with United Way and the former Washington Regional Association of Grantmakers.
Prior to her work at ARC, Lynda served as Program Manager for the Washington, D.C. office of United Negro College Fund (UNCF) where she managed an assigned portfolio of fund development, special events and volunteer advisory committees in support of the local and national UNCF mission. Lynda also provided creative oversight and management of two award-winning local telethon broadcasts of the UNCF ‘Lou Rawls: Parade of Stars’ (now known at the ‘Evening of Stars’).
Lynda began her marketing and business management career as Media Director for both Merrick Advertising Agency and M.B. Productions. For these agencies, Lynda was responsible for developing regional media, brand positioning and marketing strategies for clients within the real estate, financial, healthcare, hospitality, non-profit and construction sectors.
Lynda earned a Master of International Management and Master of Business Administration from The University of Maryland, University College. Lynda holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from National-Louis University. She is certified as a Compass representative providing personal development consulting, and completed Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) training conducted by the U.S. Green Building Council-National Regional Chapter (USGBC-NRC).
